The New Year

Hi everyone! Well, it is a New Year! Its 2012! Sorry for the length between posts! We seem to have had so much on the go this last while. Normally winter slows down for us, but this year it seems to just keep going and going. We have lots of little projects in store for 2012 and 2012 also brings along our 10 year wedding anniversary in September! 10 years............where has the time gone! Its been great! So, in between projects we are trying to see what we can plan for our 10 year anniversary celebration. Maybe a trip, who knows. We are also hoping to get an actual website up and running for our photography and framing business. We will keep you posted on that progress! Anyway, hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that 2012 has been good to you thus far! God bless!

I know our posts are few and far between this year. This past year has been an extremely busy year for us. It has had its ups and its downs, but all in all, things have turned out for the best!

Hi! I see its been quite some time since my last post. I guess nothing too exciting has been happening here in our world. We have been busy, yes, with work basically. It has been a super nice long fall, which has been great for getting lots of field work done, fertilizer on, more riding time in, and a bit more time to get everything ready for winter. So, we haven't been doing much else. One sunny afternoon we managed to get out before hunting season started and sighted in a few pieces. It was a lovely day and not too cold like when we usually do it. So here are a few pics of my handsome hubby sighting in! Enjoy!

The photos taken this day are of "my side" of the family. We went out after Thanksgiving lunch to walk off some of that big meal and decided to take some "candid" shots just for fun! They ended up turning out quite nicely even though it certainly was cool and blustery out there. I am sure thankful for both sides of my family. I am blessed by them and love them all tons! The top 2 pictures are of my younger and only sister. The next four are of my sister and her husband. The following 4 photos after that are of my Dad and my step-Mom and the last photo is of my step-Mom and her Mom. It was fun and the colors were still quite lovely! Hope you enjoy the photos! MVFD September Burn

Its been a while since my last post! August was an extremely busy month for us in between harvest and getting horses ready for our sale! It was good, but am glad August is over!
It rained at the beginning of the week which slowed harvest down and made for great conditions for this house burn out on a farm a short distance away from our town. Its so awesome that this department gets so many opportunities to go out and do practice burns like this. It just hones their skills for "the real thing" when it happens! Again, I was blessed to be able to attend the burn and do some photos for this department! It was alot of fun, as always! If there are other firefighters and/or fire departments viewing these pictures and are interested in having some taken of your own practices or even "live ones", I do take photos for other departments as well, so please feel free to contact me! This was fun! I felt so honoured to be asked to take family pictures for this wonderful family! This family is very special to my husband and I! We love and appreciate them tons! I tried to make this as quick as possible so that the two boys who are only home for a visit had enough time to get out "just one more time" with their buddies! I picked out a few spots to take pics and considering it was in the brightest light of the day, I think we did pretty good! They were a fun bunch to work with and we had lots of fun! I hope these shots are "unique and different" enough from the norm in this area! I sincerely hope you enjoy them as it was my absolute pleasure to take them! God bless!

Big rapids & beautiful water!

Again, the title sums up all the photos below! All the photos below were taken at Berry Creek near beautiful Sioux Narrows, Ontario! I am so blessed to have had family out there all of my life and still have family there to be able to go and see this beautiful part of Canada. It is not a far drive from where I live so when the mood strikes, we hop in the car and head east! Water is absolutely amazing. How it acts, bubbles, churns, and erodes. The marks it leaves on the shoreline and in the rocks! The first 3 photos are taken right beside big rapids. The water on the creek is super high this year which made for some nice photo ops. The first photo is of overflowing water running through cracks in the rock. The 2nd photo is in a little pool on the last steppe before the big rapids end, and the 3rd photo is of again, the high water running over a crack and sand in the rock, which I thought looked totally cool! The last 7 photos are of the rapids from the top right to the bottom. You can see where the rapids start, how they act in the middle, and where the drop off and end! There were enough rocks that were available to climb almost to the middle of the big water and there I used my big lens and got some up close & personal shots of the water! I had lots of fun taking these! See the beauty of God's creation while enjoying these photos!

Beautiful light, nature & a rugged outdoorsman!

The title of this post sums up all the photos below. As mentioned in an earlier post called "Adventures in Fishing", we recently were in Sioux Narrows, Ontario visiting family and having a nice, relaxing weekend away. We had all kinds of weather, sun, no sun, rain, wind, hot & even cold. But, this made for all kinds of photos to be taken. There was some beautiful light that I took advantage of and played around and took some shots! The first photo is of the clouds and the sun dancing off the water as we were out on the lake in the boat. The second photo was taken in the evening in a quiet bay, and the dock just looked totally cool in the light! The 3rd photo is of a golden eagle that we saw while cruising around the lake in the boat. The photo certainly doesn't do him any justice! He was beautiful! The 4th and 5th pictures are of a black bear that was quiet, patient and stayed put long enough for me to snap a couple shots! Not anything to enter into Field and Stream magazine by any means, but nice to photo anyway! Last but not least, is a photo of my rugged, yet handsome, outdoorsman of a husband! I love this man to pieces & am so thankful that he let me take some pictures of him while out on a hike in the woods! He is my best friend and I am blessed beyond measure to have him as my husband! He is the very best & I love him so very much! Anyway, enough of the mushy stuff! Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I had fun taking them! :)

Adventures in Fishing

Hi! Its been a while since our last post. We have been a little busy between work, riding lots & lots of horses, yard work, housework, family stuff & the list goes on & on. But we did manage to sneak away for a long weekend and head out to Lake of The Woods to get some much needed R & R! It was so worth it. The smell at the lake just does wonders for the body & soul. The air is so fresh but with that woodsy piney smell, it just makes me feel so good! I have spent a great deal of time over my lifetime thus far at Lake of The Woods. I have always had family out there and they are always so gracious enough to have us come & stay so, from time to time we take advantage of that blessing. We decided to head out & do some fishing. We didn't have a boat so we went out to one of the little back lakes off one of the logging roads that we know. We had a really great fishing day that day and caught a few fish. It was so nice back there. It was just my man & I! No one else was around and it was peaceful & still. My hubby caught a real nice bass. 1 inch away from a master angler. Boo! But it was still fun reeling it in & snapping a couple pics. We also caught some jack, but threw them back as they weren't big enough to keep and we prefer to keep the walleyes! Below are some photos from our fishing adventure on our getaway! You can see the beauty of the lake & the peacefulness of the area! We had a great time there, as always!

Well, I think summer is finally here! The flowers that have been dormant all winter are now blooming and bursting with fantastic color! Riding horses & more horses!

Its the end of June already! I am so bad at posting these days! But its for a good reason! We have been able to get in lots of riding time on our horses. We have had some decent weather despite the rains, so we have been blessed with lots of time to ride our ponies! We were busy in April and May readying horses for our spring sale. Once that was over with we could concentrate on the horses we want to sell privately and horses we want to finish. I have also been working with my new barrel horse prospect and had the pleasure of attending a barrel racing clinic with 5x NFR Qualifier Sherrylynn Johnson. If you ever get the chance to go to a clinic with her as the clinician, GO! It is more than worth the money! I was blessed to have her standing in our arena at the ranch teaching the clinic! It was totally fun! I am so pleased with my new prospect! He is working out great! She taught us lots of new techniques and lots of horsemanship. Lots of tools we can apply to riding the other young prospects that we have for sale and are finishing. Below are some photos of one horse that is for sale at this time and one horse that may be for sale in the future. Both horses are sound and coming along nicely. I felt like I was out of practice with taking livestock shots, so it was good to be back out there practicing again & shooting one of my great loves! The first 2 pictures below are of the horse that we have for sale at this time. His name is Leo Drift Zip (we call him Cisco). He is a registered Quarter Horse Gelding. He stands about 15HH at this time and is filling out nicely. He may have a little more growing to do, but not too much! He is coming along really nice and will make a super ranch, rope, or arena horse. At this time he takes a little more of an experienced rider. With time, and the more broke he gets, he should become quieter. He has a smooth gait, is willing, and wants to please! Please inquire for price.

The last 3 photos are of a horse names Boons Feature Shot (we call him Yellow). He is a registered, Quarter Horse Gelding. At this time he stands 15.3HH almost 16HH. He is a mighty big boy already and is not done growing either. He is already quite stout and with another year's growth, he will be even bigger. He has had 11 rides at this point and is coming along super. We plan to start him on barrels and start him on cattle. This horse is not for sale at this time! We want to see what he can do and then will decide at a later date what the price will be for this super handsome fellow!

MVFD April burn

What a super fun day I had this day with our department at a practice burn! It was a beautiful day weather wise and absolutely perfect for this burn. The location we got worked fantastic for all the guys. They were able to do tons of practice drills and then a great practice burn by being able to burn the building down to make room for a new home at this location! Again, I had so much fun being able to get photos not only of the burn, but of some drills as well! I am beyond blessed by this group and that they always allow me to tag along and get right in there with my camera and shoot some great photos! I love the exhilaration of it all! I was right in where it was real hot and got some great shots! We got to work with some other departments whose guys were taking their Level 1. Spring has arrived.......

Well, I think spring is finally here to stay! We just had a little snow shower yesterday but with that warm and powerful sun, it has melted away today. With spring here we can finally get out there and ride our horses. We don't have an indoor arena so with the winters that we have, we don't ride a whole lot. We have started riding some of the young horses we started last year and are getting our older horses in shape for the coming season. We have a couple horses in our annual spring sale which takes place May 20 & 21, 2011 in Brandon, MB. It is the Rocking W Ranch Annual Spring sale. This is a sale that we put on as a family. We also have a fall sale and this year will be its 25th year in operation. How exciting! I am thinking we will do something special! I snapped a few pics of my handsome hubby on one of the horses we have in the sale. He is a 3 year old registered Quarter Horse gelding. He is well started and is kind and gentle. Once he has more riding under his belt, he will make a nice family horse. We have the catalogue and any other sale info you might be looking for on our ranch and horse sale website. Golden Anniversary

About a week ago, I had the pleasure of being able to photograph this lovely and wonderful family at their 50th wedding anniversary. It was a large family with lots of little ones! They were so easy to work with and even with the large size of the family, I think we got all the photos that they wanted. It was fun and I thank you so much for asking me to take these for you. Misty Morning Practice

Last Friday just before noon, I received an invitation via phone call to come and photograph a practice burn for 2 local fire departments just down the road from where I live. Of course, I said YES, as I enjoy photographing fire and seeing as I have worked with some of these fine gentlemen before in another practice burn that they did with our town's department, I was all the more pumped to get out and photograph for them. Saturday morning was foggy, misty and the roads were just a little slick, but not bad enough to keep me at home and the departments from practice. There was very little to no wind and the conditions were just right for this burn. The 2 departments are small rural departments with not quite as many members as our town's department. They are small but mighty departments and when we as a rural community can work together and practice like this, it shows the respect and camaraderie that communities can have together. Anyway, I got lots of great shots and had a ton of fun with this bunch. I just want to say thank you very much to the Roland and Lowe Farm, Manitoba Fire Departments for asking me to come and photograph for you. It was my absolute pleasure and I look forward to doing it again sometime. Here is a sneak peek at some of the shots captured that day! Enjoy!

Dreaming......

Today, what a beautiful, almost spring like day. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and even the temperature was warmer. The snow is starting to melt. I hope we don't get more. Today, I was looking through my photos of my travels and came across these 2 lovely shots of flowers in Mexico. So, I am dreaming I am there! But unfortunately its only in my mind! Someday soon, I will be on my way, somewhere and it can't be soon enough!

My thought for today is, I wish I was here where this photo was taken! Yes, I know, I have said this before, but really, I would LOVE to go back there! It was by far, one of the BEST vacations we have ever taken! For those of you who don't me very well, or maybe those of you who do know me well, don't know this about me. One of my dreams that I am eventually going to fulfill in my life, is to travel the world! Right now, today, I am just armchair travelling, but I know in the next couple years, another vacation is going to happen! But for today, I will just look at my photos of previous trips taken, and long for the day when I am planning another trip, and then will be boarding a plane to some foreign destination! Can't wait!

Well, this was a treat for me! One of my closest and dearest friends had this darling little girl about a week before this photo op. I was blessed beyond words to be able to photograph this beauty! I haven't done much in the way of newborn, baby, or childrens photography so, I am so thankful to have had this opportunity to practice and be blessed by this family in the way of taking her pictures! Little Miss H was such a perfect model this day. She just laid there and let us take lots of pictures. Thanks again K so much, for allowing me to do this for you. Hey! I entered a post a while back called Reaction, PRICELESS. This was regarding a Christmas gift for our Fire Chief here in our town. The gift was a book that I designed and gathered all the material for, took many of the photos within and put together as a gift for him. The pictures shown below are of the front and back cover. It was a lot of work, which occupied a lot of my time, but boy, was it well worth it. His reaction was like I said, priceless and I was absolutely blessed by his response! :)

But now, I am working on yet another project for our fire department. A website. Our own website! It is coming along quite nicely and I am pretty happy with it. My sister has been helping me with it a bit as she has put together a website before and I had not till this point. There are lots of new technical terms to learn and new techniques and programs to learn how to use. Thankfully she has been able to help me with it or it would take much longer than it has. I am pretty excited for the way the site has come together thus far and all the info we have compiled to enter onto it. Also, all the neat pictures for the history section and all the portraits of our firefighting personnel all look so cool on the backgrounds we have chosen and other graphics we are using. It looks pretty neat! I will keep you posted on the progress of our site and once it all complete and all up and running, will attach the link!

Christmas Food

Christmas is my most favorite time of year. It seems that Christmas is the time when all your best and prettiest dishes come out and all of your favorite foods and goodies are made and eaten. I always do a lot of Christmas baking. I love baking anyway, but at Christmas time I make the things I only make at Christmas time. This year my sister and I baked together. It was lots of fun. We got most of it done but I did some more after we baked as well. We always have lots of gatherings to go to and I usually take a plate of baking to each gathering. The first pic below is of my Christmas table. I hosted a gathering this year. It was Christmas eve for brunch with my Mom and her husband, my sister and brother in law and my hubby and I at our house. We don't have a large house, but its always nice and cozy. We had waffles, bacon, ham, fruit, bran muffins and juices and coffee for our brunch. It was yummy! The next pic is a sampling of all the baking that was done. Sour cream cutout cookies, 2 types of shortbread, jam tarts, butter tarts, white chocolate truffles and dark chocolate truffles. All goodies made by hand! Too good! The last pic is of our afternoon snacks. My Mom made this amazing cream cheese and salsa dip so we had that with tortilla chips, baking and other snacks. All in all it was a good Christmas full of good food, good times and lots of love! Hope you all had a great Christmas as well.

The Chicken Collector

This post would technically go with the Christmas 2010 area, but I wanted to post this separately. The Chicken Collector you might ask, what exactly do you mean by "Chicken Collector"? Well, my lovely sister shown below here has always loved her chickens. As a little girl she had a chicken koop full of chickens. All kinds of chickens. Bantams, Silkies, Aracanas, laying hens, etc., etc., etc. She even had some Guinea fowl for a while too. She has always loved her "little" pets and this included chickens. So, maybe it started as kind of a joke to give her "chicken stuff" but surprisingly enough you can find some really lovely and tasteful chicken stuff. My Mom can always find neat stuff so below are the chicken-y gifts she received for Christmas this year. I too have found her some really pretty and unique chicken things too but I did not give her anything chicken like this year for Christmas or her birthday. So, all joking aside regarding "The Chicken Collector" is a legitimate collection that she has and has some really lovely things. 2010 Deer

It seems as if I have had lots of time to catch up with my blogging activity! Lots of posts these last few days. There is lots to catch up on from last summer through Christmas till the present.

Below are some photos of the gorgeous bucks that were taken by our hunting group this year. We don't have a large group of folks that we hunt with, but there were a couple nice bucks that were harvested this year. The first 2 pictures are of my handsome husband and his buck that he took in early November. He dropped him at a little over 200 yards in a corn field that was harvested. This buck was a nice size and a good weight as we had to move him a fair distance to the pick up. We had to take the "hero" shots in the dark, but they turned out ok.

The next 2 photos are of one of the fellas in our hunting group. He took this handsome buck at the end of hunting season. He shot him in the bush at I would guess under 100 yards. I had a shot at this nice buck too, however I couldn't see my hunting partner and I knew that he was just behind where this buck was and I didn't want to chance taking the shot, so needless to say I didn't get a buck this year but am glad that this fella got him! Nice buck! We also had to take these hero shots in the dark, but with the lights from the pickup they didn't turn out too badly. All in all the 2010 hunting season was a success. Enjoy the photos!

My Beautiful Friend

This was fun! I had never taken maternity shots before this and one of my best friends allowed me to "practice" with her and use her as my model. K is a beautiful person inside and out and we just love her and her family! We have been friends a long time and I was so blessed to be able to take these fun pics for her and for me. It was a relaxed and fun shoot. Some shots turned out great and some didn't turn out quite like I thought. However, we did manage to get several good pictures that day! How could you not with such a beautiful model and her cute little guy!! Anyway K, hope you enjoy these! Thanks for being my model! Creations for sale

Hi! Just a quick post tonight! My talented and artistic hubby has been hard at work, working on his beautiful creations. Here are 2 solid oak toilet seats that are ready to go for sale. We have been working on "stockpiling" as it were to have some on hand. We do lots of custom work as well, so any type of picture, logo, brand or whatever, can be woodburned onto these lovely seats. These aren't just outlines, they are complete and full pictures done by hand. We have had many a satisfied customer who have purchased his work. Here are 2 seats that fit an "average" sized bowl that are ready to go. Happy New Year everyone! Well, 2011 has arrived. I can't believe how fast 2010 flew by. I don't have much new to post but wanted to post a quick thought. Saturday night we had our Fire Department Christmas party. They are always so much fun. Lots of great food, great people, a ton of fun and laughter! This year was no different in that regard. But this year a very special gift was designed and made for our fantastic fire Chief. The gift was a beautiful bound book full of fire department history, pictures of the new fire hall, portraits and short bios of all the department members, burn pictures, community event pictures and other special memories as well. There were also a few special things added. A page with the Firefighters prayer and our crest, a page about Dalmatians and their significance to the fire service, a page with all of our towns past fire Chief's and past members, and a page with the Maltese cross and its meaning. The information for the book came from several sources which were all acknowledged within the books pages. It turned out to be a lovely book. I came up with this book idea and am certainly glad that I could do this for our Chief for our FD. The book was beautifully wrapped and I had written a little speech to go with it as I presented it to our Chief on behalf of our Fire Department. The only word to describe Chief's reaction was, priceless!!! I was so very concerned that this project be done perfectly because I wanted this to be absolutely special and I am so glad the gift was well received! So again Chief, thank you for all your hard work and dedication! You are sincerely appreciated and more! Anyway, those are my thoughts these days! God bless!

This is our photo Christmas card! There were so many great pics to choose from and believe me, it was a difficult choice. But we chose this one because it represented what we wanted and it was different and fun! Again, thanks Trace for taking the pics for us! We sincerely appreciate it! We added our blog address on the bottom of the cards to do a little advertising and get the word out there so people check up on us once in a while and see what we're up to! Its different, but becoming more and more popular these days!

Fun photos

Wowee! Its been a long time since our last post! Sorry for the delay folks! I guess there really hasn't been much new with us these last couple months. December has been filled with Christmas preparations! All the shopping, decorating and baking is done and was done in good time. Except for 1 gift which was purchased today, but at least it got done! :)

At the beginning of December we decided last minute that we wanted to do another photo Christmas card and we thought we would like to do something different than we usually do. We usually do something either at the ranch, with our horses, or somewhere in the great outdoors! This is all great but we decided to do some pictures at a place that is a huge part of our lives. Our fire hall. Bryan is a firefighter and spends a lot of time there either due to calls, drills, practices, courses, parties, get togethers, etc., etc., etc,. Me being a firefighter's wife also spends a fair amount of time there as well. Whether it be helping out, attending get together or parties, or whatever. The fire department is a huge, but great part of our lives.

Now, I could have taken these pictures myself as I am a photographer. However, I much prefer someone else taking pictures of me/us because I like to see someone else's perspective and I like other ideas too. Plus its just easier to have someone else take your pics at times! So, we hired our good friend Tracey Tyler. Her husband is also on the department. We both take photos at burns, events, and whatever else the department is involved in. She's real talented and all the photos in this post are courtesy of her! We had so much fun doing these pictures! Thanks a million Trace for doing them for us! Luv ya!!

My Boys

Below are photos of "my boys"! My horses, that is! As many of you know I grew up on a horse ranch where we raised all registered stock. My Dad started out with appaloosas and quarter horses, then we went to paints and quarter horses and now we just raise quarter horses. I feel so blessed to have grown up with this lifestyle and still have an active role on our family ranch. These pictures are of all our boys that we have. We also have 2 broodmares that are in foal for next year but I don't have any recent photos of them. The sun was bright and there were lots of shadows but I managed to get a few nice pics of them. Hope you like them!!

This photo is of Leo Drift Zip or Cisco as we call him. He is a 2 year old registered quarter horse gelding. We started him this summer and he is coming along quite nicely. But he is not for sale at this time! He is super pretty and is gonna be a fair size! He was kinda scared at first but got over it real quick! He is a pretty buckskin color. We called him Cisco because he looks like the horse from Dances With Wolves. When he's shed out he's a real bronze buckskin!

This is Smokey Spurs or Moe as we call him. He is a bay 2 year old registered quarter horse gelding. We also started him this summer. He is gonna make a nice family horse because he's really quiet. He is also not for sale at this time but may be in spring! He's always in your pocket in the pen and is real quiet in the barn and when you ride him. He has a nice personality!

This is Boons Feature Shot or Yellow as we call him. He is a registered yearling palomino quarter horse gelding. We will start him this coming up spring. He is not for sale at this time. We are thinking of keeping him and starting him on barrels when he's ready. He is already a big fella and we think he is gonna be monster size! He is such a sweetie!

This is Safaris Got Money (name pending) or Safari as we call him. He is a grey registered quarter horse weanling colt. We are gonna keep him for a while and start him as a 2 year old. He is so cute!

And the next 3 pictures are of Bugle Doc Pines or Fiddle as we call him. He is a bay registered 10 year old quarter horse gelding. He is our barrel and rope horse. We sure love this guy and are not sorry we purchased him 5 years ago from a guy in Saskatchewan. He is my best friend and always has a listening ear and always willing to accept snuggles when I'm feeling blue! I love this guy! (He is not for sale!!!)

This is Nermy Germy or Nermy as we call him. He is a 10 year registered Dun quarter horse gelding. He is well broke to ride and is nice to be around. This horse is for sale. He requires a more experienced rider. A green rider would not be suitable for him. He was roped off of and was used for working but I have just been riding him all over. He is fun to ride and feels like you're riding a real big horse. He has lots of power and is fun to ride. Contact me for more info!

This was a really fun afternoon photo shoot! It was a bit windy and cool, but all in all a nice day. We had lots of fun and this family was open to some different location suggestions so, it was a neat opportunity to shoot in a couple different places that I have been eyeing for a while! The little guy cooperated rather well for a 2 year old and we managed to get some shots of him smiling and looking at the camera at the same time. This is a beautiful and fun family! Live burns

Firefighting, is not for the average person I would have to say. I myself am not a firefighter but I am married to one and have had the privilege of attending several live practice burns and a few actual incidents. Below are some photos of live practice burns that I have photographed and just loved it! It is so much fun tagging along with the guys. They always treat me real good and I am always getting pulled in a lot of directions with one guy saying "hey come over here, there is some awesome looking flames", or another guy saying "this looks cool, come and a get a shot"! Also, sometimes the guys like to see how close we can get to the fire with the camera without getting to hot. I have got some shots in some serious heat, but I don't stick around there long because my camera would melt! Below are some shots from 2 separate burns that were done a few years ago. The first set was taken in late fall and the next set was taken in late winter. Both were really perfect days for the burn! I hope you enjoy them!

This photo here is my handsome hubby. We were trying to pose him for the "Backdraft" shot, but it was really hot there by that door and it didn't quite work like we thought, but it was fun anyway! He had to be sprayed down afterward, but he was ok with that.

This photo here is one of my all time faves! I have sold a few prints of this photo and this is often the photo that most are drawn too. It again is of my husband and one of the captains! I actually have this photo in my home in a 16x20 framed with one of our custom built barnboard frames. It looks amazing!

Thanksgiving

Giving thanks is sometimes easier said than done, but lately we all have so much to be thankful for, including myself. I have not had the easiest summer with a hospital stay, not quite feeling 100% and recovering, but I am back on the mend now. I did a lot of praying and drawing nearer to God this summer and even still at this time, and I am so very thankful for the many prayers that He has answered. I am also so thankful for his provision in so many areas of our lives! God is SO GOOD and He is an amazing God! I am amazed each and every day by the prayers that He has answered and things that He has shown me during this time. I am also thankful for the family and friends that I have. They have all prayed for Bryan and I, and I pray each night that God will bless each and every one of them.

Below are some pictures I took at our Thanksgiving day that we had on Thanksgiving Sunday. The colors of fall have stayed vibrant for such a long time. I just love fall colors. They are my favorite range of colors! I also got some pictures of my Grandma. She is such a beautiful lady inside and out. She always thinks that she looks awful in pictures, but she doesn't!! Love at work

This is a totally unrelated post to most of the topics I normally post. Once again, I got to witness firsthand, our amazing fire department at work. There was a motor vehicle accident close to the ranch, and my Dad, sister and I went out for a little horseback ride. As we were riding a little ways away, we saw some tandem grain trucks parked on the road. We thought it was just farmers stopping to chat about the crops. But not 10 minutes later we heard sirens so we decided to turn around and head towards where we saw those trucks parked. Well, it wasn't farmers visiting. There was a car smashed up in the ditch and the front bumper on one tandem was all dented up. But on our way close the accident, I saw our Chief's truck and then there came the rest of our boys out to the scene. The ambulance arrived and then the fire boys began to extricate the victim, which was a young fella that is a neighbour to the ranch. I saw the father of the boy come down the road and he was so shocked to see that it was his son. But one of our amazing firemen took him aside and lovingly talked him through what was happening. I also saw our boys talking to the young fella in the car and were reassuring him. Then I saw our Chief bend down to talk to the driver of the tandem and I know the conversation will have been caring and compassionate as that is how our Chief is. As our Chief got up, he gently touched his shoulder reassuringly and went to continue to lead our men through the scene. We, and our town are blessed to have the leadership we have on our department and I just want to commend our guys and our Chief that were out there today that they did an amazing job! May God continue to bless this department and its members!! Below is a photo of one of our firetrucks!!

This past Sunday afternoon was beautiful outside. We spent the day at my sister's place with my Dad and his wife and our Grandma! It was a lovely day! My husband pictured directly below here went for a spin with my sister's new miniature horse in this little cart. These little guys are quite tough and hearty and can manage pulling a lot of weight. They aren't as wimpy as they look! Needless to say it was a fun day! A nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon after church!

This picture is of my sister trying to teach Barb (our step Mom) how to drive a horse. This is the first time since she's been in our family that she has done this. This little guy is really broke and easy to drive. I think Barb really had fun!

This is my sister and her new Catahoula pup Winnie! She is sooooooo cute, the dog and, my sister! LOL!

I just think Winnie is the cutest dog ever! I jokingly told my sister that if she was missing a dog then...... HA HA! No, we can't have a dog where we live! Maybe someday!

8 years ago today, I married the man of my dreams! The man God blessed me with! My husband is the most awesome and amazing husband a woman could pray and ask for! I feel so very, very blessed to have him as my husband. He is loving, warm, caring, supportive, and so many other things. There just aren't enough words in this world to describe him! I love the way it feels when he holds me in his strong arms! There is just an awesome element of safety and security there! I love this man with all my heart and soul! Thank you God for giving me this great, great blessing! I love you sweetheart and wish us many more happy and wonderful years together!

A most unique wedding day

I would have to say that I rank this wedding as one of the most beautiful and unique weddings that I have ever attended! An RCMP wedding. Now, I was not the photographer for this wedding but I sure wish I was! It was my husband's cousin who got married but I did snap a few candid shots of the beautiful couple and amazing event! It was a gorgeous location, an outdoor wedding and because the groom is an RCMP police officer, a very unique theme! Congratulations to this amazing couple, D & T!! Barrel racer seat design

Here is Bryan's latest toilet seat design. Please excuse the camera flash on the seat, and I must apologize for that as it sure does not make the details very clear but for those of you who have seen Bryan's work, you know it is minute, down to the last detail. The photos were taken last minute before it was delivered to the client thus, the flash.

This was a custom design for a prize for a barrel racing series that was put on in our area. It was a custom request and a paid for design and the person who recieved it was absolutely thrilled! Just to note again, that we do these toilet seats under custom design which means, you can request what you would like on it. Or we have some that we have made that we do time and time again, as people find them to be their favorite because they have seen someone else's. Where Have I been?.....

Hi there!

August has now past and September is basically half gone. For those who read/follow our blog, you may have been wondering where I've (Tanya) been. July was not the best month for me as I was not feeling well. I thought that towards the end of July things were looking up however, that was not the case. I spent the first week of August in the hospital with an infection that the Dr's just don't know where it came from. But to make a long story short, God has been AWESOME and I am healed, healing, and feeling much, much better. I have been off work though since the beginning of August under Dr's orders and Dr's care. But things are going uphill each and every day! I will be off work though still for about another month after which time the Dr's will reassess me and see how it looks. But please don't worry, I am feeling better and it was nothing life threatening or anything, I was just not doing well as I was sick for a month and didn't know it.

This time off has certainly made my relationship with God much, much stronger. I have really been learning how to trust Him, hear Him, and be patient and wait for Him to answer and hear my cry. It has also strengthened my faith in Him and is continuing to strengthen my health.

Well, I will have a bunch of new pictures to post as I have had some time to actually do some editing. I will have quite a variety to post so I hope you will enjoy them!

July went where?

I can't believe that the end of July is near! Where has this month gone? What have we done with our time?

Well, we have been busy! We had client's horses in for training. We are just about done with that. We have been riding our own horses as well. We have been working our regular jobs! We have just been doing "life stuff"! You know, yardwork, housework, laundry, errands, etc., etc!

I (Tanya) have had some health issues the last few weeks but am on the mend now! I have been praying lots for God's healing touch and I have to constantly remind myself, that He is there for me and He will bless me, and heal me! Thank You for what You are doing in our lives! Thank You for Your healing!! The issues have slowed me down a bit, but now that I am almost back to "normal" I am thankful and ready to get going again!

We got away 1 weekend to a family wedding! Bryan's cousin is an RCMP and they had their wedding in a small town in northern Saskatchewan! What a beautiful wedding! Pictures soon to come!

I am looking forward to August and fall coming! I have photo shoots booked and am looking forward to that! I still have openings so if you are interested and need some pics for christmas cards or anything else, just let me know! I would be glad to do that for you!

Encouragement

This morning I was encouraged! I sent an e-mail to a lovely lady whom I've never met. I came across her blog when searching for firefighting websites to look for fire photo ideas for a project I am going to be undertaking. It was so awesome to see how much this person loves God and how she thanks and praises Him so openly! I received a reply back saying how much my e-mail encouraged her. She was glad to know that her blog wasn't a waste of time! And no, it certainly is not a waste of time, it is a testimony! What will our testimony be? It got me to thinking that we, as people, need to hear these things from time to time. It got me thinking also that I need to be more bold for Him in everything that I say and everything that I do. I need to remember its about Him, not me! Thank you to the person who replied to my e-mail this morning for reminding me of this! I am so thankful to God for all the wonderful blessings in my life. For my perfect and wonderful husband, for our marriage, for our family and friends, for His protection, for provision, and for the many gifts in every aspect He has given us! May you also be encouraged to know how He loves!

When I was at the fire hall for the open house, I just started shooting with my camera and getting in a bunch of different shots that I thought might turn out good and look really cool! About a week ago our town's fire department held their annual open house. This is where the public can come on down to the fire hall and see what the guys have been up to, whats new, and what is to come. It is always a really fun time! The people get to explore the fire hall, check out the fire trucks, and there is always something fun for all the kids. As well, the firemen hold different demonstrations and then host a hotdog and hamburger lunch for the public. If you haven't been to either our town's open house or any that are held closer to you, you should definetly check it out! Its interesting to see the inside of a fire hall, the trucks, the gear and all the tools. It is always an informative day for the public to be able to gain a little bit of understanding to how it all works. They even allow the public to put some gear on and try their hand with some of the tools used for vehicle extrication and also with using a hose to spray water for a fun game of water soccer or target spraying. This year was no different. They did a couple vehicle extrication demonstrations and played a fun game of water soccer. Below are a few pictures from our open house! Enjoy!

My husband, the firefighter! At our department's open house a week ago, I had my man "pose" for some photos as our little niece from Edmonton had requested from Grandpa (who I might add, forgot to bring his camera to the open house) some pictures of her Uncle in his firefighter stuff! So ultimately these were taken especially for her. However, I did manage to get him to pose for some close ups which I have been wanting to get of him in his turnout gear for some time! He loves being a firefighter and is on an absolutely awesome fire department with an amazing bunch of people! I happen to love this man to pieces and these pictures just don't do justice to how handsome and amazing this man is! I hope you all like the pictures!

Moon rise

Here are some more posts with photos as promised, finally! On my way home from riding horses one night a while back, I came across this scene with the moon rising. It was either full moon or almost full moon. I thought this looked pretty cool as it was still quite bright out and the moon was fully visible above this yard. I thought it made for a nice picture! The photo actually does not do the moon justice as it was so much prettier and brighter in real life but I only took a couple quick shots as I was stopped right on the side of a very busy road! I know it's a bit of a random subject as of late, but I thought I would post it as one of hopefully several summery type shots! Enjoy the summery weather!

Long time between postings....

Hey there!

Again, its been a while since our last posting! We have been crazy busy it seems. Bryan has been busy with farming inbetween all the rains we've been getting. He's also been quite busy with fire dept stuff as well. I've been busy working and just trying to keep up with the yard, house, and everything else it seems.

We are in the process of starting some young horses and that keeps our evenings and any other extra time busy. We also have our broke horses to ride, young horses from last year that were started and other projects that are on the go as well. I have also been participating in some barrel racing jackpots at Dad's place that my sister has been putting on so that has been every tuesday thus far in June. There are 2 more left. Its been fun!

It would be very nice if the rain would stop! Things are just so wet and saturated that there is hardly any place for the water to go. Also the mosquitoes and other bugs are HORRENDOUS!!! I think if it would quit raining and start to dry, then some of the bugs would back off! It would be so nice to be able to spend time outside without swatting bugs and with riding and working horses would be nicer too so we wouldn't have to fight the bugs all the time! I also would be able to get all my flowers planted as well b/c every time I go to plant or even think about wanting to work on that, it rains!! Oh well, hopefully it will get done this week!!

I will be posting some more new pics very soon! Sorry that I haven't been keeping up with that but life just seems so very crazy! I will have several different ones to post! I have yet to post our Mexico adventure, but those pics are coming as well!

Another seat design

Well, another month has past since we have posted an entry. It seems our life has been really busy with our jobs, the horse sale, and life in general. The weather has been superb so farming has been going really well so that keeps us both busy with working. Plus, we had our 4th annual Rocking W Spring horse sale on May 7 & 8 so that kept us hoppin' as well. We sold a horse in the sale which made it even busier with getting him ready before the sale and riding him and selling him there. It always seems if you have a horse in a sale that it is just that much more work. But in the end it was very worth it for us as he brought more than we expected and some unexpected bills could be paid off! Thank you Lord!!

Bryan completed another custom woodburned art toilet seat. This was a gift for a friend, but none the less remarkable! He took the logo for his friend's bear hunting outfitter service and designed a seat for him. He used the logo on the "inside" of the lid, and for the top of the seat, he found a real nice picture of a bear to draw and got some stencils for the lettering. All in all, it turned out amazing as the logo for the business has quite intricate details as you will see in the photos below! Remember that if any of you out there are interested in one of these seats, they are solid oak and we do custom work. So if you have a picture or logo that you would like on one, let us know, and we will get a seat made for you. Bryan does this by hand and is a great artist. We have sold several and have had repeat clients as well as clients who saw someone else's and wanted one for themselves. Our contact info is available on our profile!

Mid April.......ALREADY!

Hey there! Well, I can't believe its the midde of April, already! Time has flown by since my last post. Since my last post we have actually been pretty busy. We spent a week in beautiful Bucerias, Mexico which is close to Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific side of Mexico. Bucerias is located about a 40 minute drive from the airport in Puerto Vallarta. We stayed at an all inclusive resort called the Royal Decameron Complex. What a lovely place. It was brightly colored and beautifully groomed. It was a gorgeous place and right on the ocean!! The staff there were absolutely amazing and we had a FANTASTIC time! We are most definetly going to go back there again. Hopefully next year! We went on a couple of tours as well while we were there. We went on a snorkelling tour out to Colomitos and Majahuitas which are along the coast in Banderas Bay where both Puerto Vallarta and Bucerias are located. The tour guides were absoutely fantastic and we had a great time! The second tour was to a 400 year old town way, way up in the mountains. It was called San Sebastian del Oeste which is about 4600 or so feet up in the Sierra Madre mountains. What a beautiful place. We spent a good half a day up in the market in Bucerias. A neat little town! The market was a lot of fun. The vendors were real nice and we got some good bargains! It is such a relaxed pace there. We really fell in love with the area. We already know what we will do when we go back!

Once we got home and back to reality, we started riding some horses and getting some ready for the spring sale which is being held in Brandon Manitoba on May 7 & 8 at the Keystone Center. Friday is the tack sale and saturday is the horse sale. Come on down and check it out.

Unfortunately I have not gotten any of my pictures from Mexico loaded onto here or even put into an album. I hope to have that done in the next week or so. Things will just get busier from here on in with yard work, gardening, riding horses, work, life, etc., etc., etc. So, the sooner I get it done the better! I have already decided to put some projects that I started in winter on hold for the summer as life is so busy as it is and then in fall I will get back at them. We also have a bathroom reno that needs to happen but with the weather being so nice Bryan will be back in the field in no time and then that may have to wait as well. Not a problem. We will only get done what we get done.

Again, its been a while and I am sure some are wondering, where are the photos I have been promising regarding that "special project" I have been working on. Well, its still not done. Needless to say it has got pushed to the bottom of the pile again. It seems like we have been so busy this last month again doing quite a variety of things in the evenings and on the weekends, that the project just has not gotten done.

Its beginning to look and feel like spring is here. The snow is melting and my tulip bulbs are even peeking through the dirt. Hopefully it doesn't get too frightfully cold and freeze them. I think we are going to have another busy summer with riding and training horses but I think we are going to start in spring to make sure that everyone gets a turn! LOL! But in all seriousness, we have some we want to sell and some to start again, plus continuing on with the ones we started last summer and riding our "regular" broke horses. I think we will be busy, but thats ok!

We will be heading to Mexico in pretty short order here and are very much looking forward to this holiday. I will most definetly post photos after we return.

Nothing new, really....update!!

Hi! I see its been a month since my last entry! Am I ever bad at keeping up with this blog. I look at some of my friend's blogs and they are so much more "regular" than I am. I think they lead much more exciting lives than we do.

Well, winter is ALMOST over. I am certainly waiting for spring to arrive and for this stinkin snow to melt so we can get back to dry roads and the like. We have horses that we want to continue on with and others that need to be started. We also have some horses that need to be fit up for a sale. So, needless to say we have LOTS of work ahead of us. But, thats what we do so its just the way it is.

We have a few horses that we are really looking to sell so for any of you out there who read this blog and are interested in purchasing a nice horse, please let us know. We have several of all different ages and abilities to sell. We also have some pictures available and the information for them as well. They are all registered stock. There will be a couple that if they don't sell by the time our spring sale comes around, will be entered into that.

Bryan and I are getting excited for our trip to Bucerias, Mexico coming up in March. Bucieras is a little town just about 12 miles or so from Puerto Vallarta. We are heading to an all inclusive resort there and are looking forward to this much needed break. A big thank you goes out to our good friend Katherine, our travel agent, for hooking us up! Thanks!! We are really excited!

I have been on a little break from photography this winter but am now ready to get back into the swing of things. That is why there is the lack of new photos uploaded onto here. So for anyone out there looking for wedding, engagement, family or livestock portraits, just let me know. I am still fairly open at this point. The sooner I know especially for summer, the better. That way you can get the day you want.

I am still working on a special project that I mentioned a while back. It has taken quite a bit more time than I anticipated. I started before Christmas, but then decided to take a break due to all the busyness of Christmas. I started back at it this weekend and I am hoping, hoping, to have it done in the next week or so. Then I can finally upload it onto here and you can see what I've been up too. It will be exciting!

These photos were taken at Christmas time this year! These are our 2 special little nieces! Miss M & Miss E! We don't get to see them very often but we sure love them! It is always a special treat to be able to play with them and hold them! They live in Edmonton, so its not too often that we get to see them! I just love the pictures of Bryan with the girls! I just hate that ugly couch that unfortunately has to stick out but this is the only place that the tree can go nicely in this house! My theme was burgundy, gold, and creme! My most favorite theme! White Christmas 2009

I know, I know! Its a little backwards! My last post stated "Welcome 2010" and here I am back in 2009. I didn't manage to get these pictures together until now!
We most certainly had a white, white christmas! This is what we woke up to on boxing day! Christmas day was spent at my sister and brother in law's place. We left in a snowstorm that got progressively worse throughout the day and came home in a bad snowstorm that had dumped a TON of snow! On boxing day morning the picture below is what we woke up too! YIKES! Bryan had to push as hard as he could just to get the door open! We then went outside and observed the massive amount of snow that was left to us to clean up!

This is Bryan standing on the nice 3.5-4ft snowbank that our lovely town left when the grader went by. We know they can't help it, but STILL! It was so much to clean up. Bryan had to shovel a path just wide enough for us to fit through with the truck to see if we could borrow his Dad's snowblower. Unfortunately when we got there he told us the belt had broken and there was nothing open to replace it with. Thankfully his yard was all cleaned. BUT blessing of blessings, Bryan's Dad and oldest brother came to help us clear our driveway out! We really appreciated that!

The snowbank beside the house was almost as high as our car. As you can see, the large bank went quite a distance! But at least it felt even more Christmasy with this lovely, white snow! It was a perfect day to snuggle on the couch and watch movies with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate!

Welcome 2010

Well, Christmas has come and gone. We are into the New Year. I have yet to post some pictures of Christmas on here. I just need to have some time to do so! Christmas was very busy with gatherings here and there, and hardly a free day to ourselves. Bryan's brother and his family came out from Edmonton and that was really nice. We got to see them and play with our nieces! What a treat that is! They are so precious! We had other great news as well. Bryan's youngest brother got engaged to a SUPER gal! She is an awesome person and a fantastic addition to our family. Looking forward to their wedding in August sometime. This will make the Gerbrandt clan complete! Everyone will be married!

I always love the thought Bryan puts into the gifts he gets for me. He always feels like he sucks at shopping but he doesn't! I love the gifts he gives me! Not just the material gifts, but his love and support! I love it when he holds me with his strong arms and I love how I feel in those arms! I think that is how we are supposed to feel in God's arms. That is something that I am really trying to put into focus at this time. For any of you that read this and wish to pray for me/us, is this. That we would feel God's love for us, His protection, His guidance, His blessing, and His forgiveness! You can also pray that we could completely forgive and let go. That we would grow closer to one another each and every day. This is something I am praying for fervently!!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr it sure is chilly!

Well, the dead of winter is finally upon is! I went out and started my car this morning only to find it was incredibly cold! I mean COLD! Yikes! But one thing, at least the wind isn't blowing a million miles and hour and the windchill isn't minus 1000! LOL! Ok, ok, thats a bit extreme but when its super cold, thats what it feels like!
I almost have my house completely decorated for christmas. Tonite I am hoping to finish and then do some housecleaning. Friday we are hoping to finish our christmas shopping and then saturday I am going to do my christmas baking. Then once that is all done, I will be ready for christmas except for a few odds and ends and then I can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the christmas season.
In the next week or so, I should have new photos to post. Probably of a miscellaneous variety.
Well, should get going here for now! Enjoy preparing for the Christmas season!

The season has come 'round again!

Finally after all these years, I have got my christmas tree up before Dec. 1st! I am pretty pumped about that! Its the time of year to get festive and into the christmas spirit but it just doesn't "feel christmas-y" if ya know what I mean. Theres no snow, which I am certainly not complaining about, and God has blessed up with some super weather this fall, and this long into fall. But I am thinking that we need just a little "something" to make it more "festive", don't y'all think?
I am gonna finish decorating my tree tomorrow but it is all "fluffed" and the lights are on. The 2 biggest tasks. I just love it when my tree is all decorated and all my christmas decorations are up. Then I pop in a christmas movie, get my hot chocolate and popcorn and sit down and relax! I love the way the christmas season feels. Of course, it is about the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, but also getting together with family and friends, and all the food!
This is one of the first years I have had my tree up before I start my christmas baking! It will be so much fun to do all my christmas baking with all my decorations up!
I know to some it may seem silly to put up all these decorations for such a short time, but I enjoy it and its the only time of year where I get to listen to the wide selection of christmas music I have. So, for the last couple weeks I have started listening to christmas music to get into the christmas spirit! Its been great!
Whats your favorite thing about christmas? Whats important to you? To each and every one it may be something different, it may be something simliar, or it may be the same. But whatever it is, enjoy it! The season is so short!

Hi there!
Wow! It seems like its been a long time since I posted anything. I have been working on some pictures I want to post for a "special feature" per say here on my blog, but its been a little more work than I originally anticipated. I have kind of put in on the back burner for now though as I have been busy trying to get family portrait appointments booked and other client photo orders ready. I am beginning to realize what a big job it is getting those orders together, but the outcome is always so satisfying. Seeing the look on the clients faces when they pick up their enlarged photo choices is always gratifying for me and then I realize it was so worth spending the time putting it together for them. Don't get me wrong, I love my photography and I love working with pictures, sometimes it just seems to take much longer than I originally anticipated! But thats just the way it goes!
Last saturday Bryan and I were in Winnipeg and I had the privilege of meeting a fantastic wildlife and wildlife mount photographer. He takes pictures for Big Buck magazine, for all you hunters out there who might read that magazine. I know Bryan has at least 2 years worth of issues. Anyway, we got to talking and realized that we both shoot the same type of camera. So we told eachother what kind of photography we did, how long we've been at it, etc., and anyway, I said I would love to join him sometime on one of this wildlife shoots. He said, sure! So, I am looking forward to the day when I can get out there and head out into the "field" with him! He is from Portage La Prairie so its not far to go. He also said he would love to come by so we can look at each others work and swap stories! Looking forward to that!

Well, I really like the fall season. I like it because of the cooler weather as I am all for wearing a sweater or a light jacket. I like it because of the harvest and all the blessings we recieve. And mostly I like it for the fall colors! The colors are always just gorgeous. One day I was on my way out to bring Bryan supper at the field. Here as I was waiting I found several photo opportunities and thankfully I had my camera along. So I managed to get a picture of him working, the dirt road with an open, endless sky, and an awesome sun peeking through beautiful clouds.
On the way home I got a gorgeous sunset as well. The sunsets in fall are absolutely spectacular!
Another day I got the remaining shots below. It was overcast and cool but there were lots of cool things to see!

Hi!
Today as I was working on getting some photos together for a presentation that is being made for an event, I thought to myself, "Wow! Is the Town Of Morden ever blessed to have Andy Thiessen as its Fire Chief!" I know this because of his dedication to this town and the fire dept itself. The guys on the dept love going to drill and spending time at the fire hall. They get a ton of great training opportunities that maybe other depts don't get. They do a lot of work in this community. But Andy spends countless hours teaching, training, and mentoring. And I know as a wife of a firefighter on this dept how priceless all of that is. Below are some pictures of this teaching, training, and mentoring that I speak of. I have been blessed to be able to attend the practice burns where most of these photos were taken and I thank you Andy, for letting me be right there in the middle of it all! You have no idea what that means to me! So, I hope you all enjoy these pictures!!

Well, its been busy the last little while. Harvest is in full swing, other than the rain at the end of last week putting a damper on things but now the guys are back at it. I have been busy editing, sorting, and getting pictures ready for my clients. In the next few days I am going to be posting some pictures of a beautiful couple I was blessed to be part of their wedding day! They were absolutely gorgeous and a ton of fun to work with. There are some freakin amazing pictures. The locations they chose were awesome! Especially their "secret" location! Anyway, stay tuned for those pictures to be posted.
In the next little while I will also be getting some of my firefighting prints blown up, drymounted, framed and ready to submit to the art gallery for sale. I am so excited about this. I will keep you posted on the progress of that!

Busy weekend!

Wow!
Did we ever have a crazy, busy weekend! I sure am tired tonite!
Friday and saturday we had our 23rd annual Rocking W fall horse sale. It went pretty well. Its always nice to catch up with people you only get to see once or twice a year and to see a lot of nice horses sell. No, we didn't buy anything at the sale but, we may be purchasing a few at a little bit later date. We talked to a friend of ours whos got some pretty nice horses he wants to sell and said he would make us a good deal. But not sure when that will be. No rush as we really need to sell some first. I am hoping to get some pics taken of them so I can advertise them.
Today, (sunday) I photographed a wedding of a very special couple. We had sooooooo much fun today taking pictures all over the place! They were absolutely beautiful and the pictures are gonna look awesome once they are all ready to go. I don't have them ready to post as of yet, but I am hoping to by later this week. I do not want to post them till they are back from their honeymoon and I have their proofs to them. But keep watching for them!
Well anyway, it was a great weekend all in all, but now I am tired and its off to bed I go! Talk to ya all soon!

Hey all!
Well, as many of you know, Bryan is an avid outdoorsman. He loves fishing but he LOVES hunting the most. For the last 2 years in late november we have headed out to some great friend's of ours place at Lake Alma, SK. There are some MONSTER whitetail out there that our friend and Bry go hunting for. Last year he shot a pretty nice buck! The first time we went out there we found out just how "middle of nowhere" they are, but it sure is a beautiful place. Yes, it is wide open and basically no trees, but the sunsets in the country are gorgeous. There are huge rolling hills all around. This last time we went there (which was Nov 2008) there was just a skiff of snow. I caught some real nice images along the fenceline, a sunset & some of their horses on top of a big hill. And last but not least, a picture of Bry and his buck! Hope you like the photos!

Well, as I promised here are the surprise photos! I haven't done much horse photography over the last few years so I am a little rusty! But I had a film to fill the other nite and decided to take some shots of a few of the horses we have been working with this summer. I will post photos of the rest of the horses we have been working with this summer when I get some shots of them. The first 2 photos are of our 2 year old Jay. He is a registered APHA gelding and is coming along nicely. If anyone is interested, he's for sale! The following 4 photos are of 2 more 2 year olds we have been working with this summer. They are my Dad's but we are training them. The next 2 are of a 2 year old buckskin quarter horse gelding. He has been a real pleasure to work with. He is tons of fun to be around, he is quite a character. His name is Bucky! The last 2 photos are of a registered 2 year old quarter horse gelding. We call him Blue, seeing as he is blue! He is just being started under saddle at this time. We will be starting to ride him this week. Bucky and Blue are not for sale at this time. We have had such a fun summer training all these horses. It has been 10 years since I broke my last horse so I was a little rusty when we started, but it all came back to me real quick. Just like riding a bike, as some would say. So, we have been working with 3 - 2 year olds, 2 - 3 year olds, and then 2 older broke horses which are ours. We keep them in shape so when we do something new with the young ones, that they are ready to go! Celebration & Remembrance

A couple of posts back I mentioned that I had the opportunity to share in a very touching moment with the Morden Fire Dept in giving salute to a fallen comrade? Well, here are the pics I promised to post. Again, they are not the best as we had to quickly snap them between traffic and could not get up as close as we wanted but here they are anyway. Their fallen comrade was a fire cheif from a community just down the road who passed away in a motorcycle accident in Alberta. I thought this was a really nice way to honor him and his family. It was pretty cool! He was escorted by fire trucks and saluted by depts all the way from Winnipeg airport to home. Below are a couple pictures of the salute. The first one is just the guys saluting and the 2nd one is of the guys and our fire truck leading a bus with his family on it home.

CELEBRATION! Below are a few photos of the FD in the Morden C & A parade this year! The boot drive the firefighters did for Muscular Dystrophy was a success. They raised just over $10,000! Way to go boys!

Centre Island South getaway

Remember a couple posts ago, I mentioned we had a nice relaxing weekend away at Centre Island South? Well, I finally got some of the pictures uploaded for you all to see where we went. Now, these are not the best photos I have taken but the weather was rainy and wet and I had to quickly snap these photos inbetween rain showers. It is a really pretty place and we had a great time. Our hosts, Larry & Alice Anderson, were so welcoming and we had a fantastic time!! For any of you fishermen out there, this is a place where there is world class bass, walleye, and musky fishing. They have caught some monsters out there. So, head on out to Centre Island South if this intrigues you!!

Hey all!
Just a quick update here. I am in the process of photo editing and will be posting new photos up soon.
I will have quite a variety to post. There will be photos from a 1 year old birthday party photo shoot that I will be posting. There will be photos from our weekend at Centre Island, photos from the Corn and Apple Parade of mostly the fire dept, there will be pics of the firemen giving their salute to a fallen comrade on his way through Morden to home, and then last but not least, will be a surprise! We will see what I will post!
I am also hoping to get some of my wedding portfolio uploaded, edited and posted very soon!
For those of you that don't know, Bryan and I run a little side business called Wildhorse Photography and Design. Bryan woodburns his toilet seats and builds picture frames. He does custom work on just about anything in this regard. I am a sideline photographer and I started taking horse portraits and livestock photos and it just evolved from there. I do weddings, family photos, etc. I have also been blessed over the last 8 years to be able to attend practice burns with the Morden Fire Dept and be their "official" photographer per say and I have captured lots of cool images. I feel I have gotten much better at firefighting photography over the years and each time I do it.
I just sold 5 of my firefighting prints and my customer was ecstatic with the out come. Bryan built the frames for him and together the pictures were absolutely stunning!
I will be posting some more of the prints that will be for sale, so if you see something to your liking, let me know. I will be happy to sell you what you want. Bryan will build the frames as well, unless you want something different than barn board. I do have access to another framer who will do custom framing and who does some work for me as well.

Weekend away

Hey!
Well, we're back from a roadtrip that we thought was gonna take forever! We used google maps to get the time to go to Young's Bay in Minnesota on Lake of the Woods from here. The total it said was 4 & 3/4 hours. Boy was it wrong! It took 3 hours. From Young's Bay we then were picked up and whisked away to Centre Island which is on the Canadian Ontario side on Lake of The Woods. There is a fishing lodge there that we were invited to see by some new friends. We had a great time. The place is beautiful and feels just like a home away from home. It rained the whole time but we had fun and relaxation anway. This will likely be our last trip anywhere this year. We may take a winter holiday but that will sometime in 2010, maybe.
I will be posting pictures of Centre Island South once they are ready.

This is our wedding day! We had sooo much fun! It was a beautiful fall day. We will be married
7 years on Sept. 21/09. It has flown by and every year we just love each other more!! The
horse in this picture is Soxx. I raised him from a baby. He passed away on May long weekend
this year! He was 19! I miss him!! But I enjoyed and am blessed by the time I had spent with
him!

The pictures and edits below are from beautiful Sioux Narrows Ontario and area. We have family there and are so blessed by being able to stay in their big, beautiful cabins right on Lake Of The Woods. It is so quiet and peaceful there and it smells wonderful! I just love getting out of the car and smelling that northwoods air. There is just something relaxing in doing just that. Below are some pics, and obviously some edited pics, that I have taken over last fall and this summer! The first 4 are from a place called Black River. What it is, is a little area on the side of the highway just down the road from my Uncle's place. There is a lake which this little water fall runs out of and at the bottom of the water fall is a big pool with lily pads and lilies. I would love to build a cabin there! The daisy is on the side of the road right by the river. The following 2 pictures are at Berry Creek which is just around the corner from where we stay. We always have fun fishing there. The last photo is of a loon that came real close to the dock, so I snapped a quick photo. Hope you enjoy these!

Here is a taste of some of Bry's artwork! He wood burns on solid oak toilet seats! I know, I know, you're probably thinkin this is totally corny, but it looks awesome! We have sold several of them already! So, if you're interested, let us know! He can do pretty much whatever you would want on a toilet seat. But most of our client's for these are horsey type people! Well, I am finally starting a blog! We want to start advertising some of the things we do and thought until we get our website up and running, this would be a good way to start!
Bryan & I both have some talents that we have been neglecting and realize we could probably make a little extra money if we paid more attention to them!
Bryan is an artist with woodburning and has made some really nice creations. He also builds barn board frames which we just sold our first custom frames about 2 weeks ago.
